Welcome to a project about objects.
Several years ago, I began asking people about their possessions. And what meaning those possessions possess. And what possesses us to hold on to them.
These are the inanimate life partners we carry from one place to another, that we display or hide, that we pack and unpack and repack and unpack again. Or the things we put in storage because we can't bear to let them go, but that we forget about until we reunite again.
Sometimes we hand these off to a new owner. Or lose them and grieve deeply. And sometimes we just let them go, experience them as memories, and feel a little bit lighter in our step.
I invite you to read through these biographies of the company we keep, and add your own story to the collection.
